M-13 (computer)

The M-13 is a supercomputer that was put into operation in Moscow in 1984 .

It was developed and built by the Soviet engineer Mikhail Alexandrowitsch Karzew . The vector calculator specialized in working with complex numbers .

Records

The M-13 achieved a computing power of 2.4 GFLOPS , making it the first computer to break the 1 GFLOPS limit. From 1984 to 1985 it was also the fastest supercomputer in the world. Until November 2010 he was the only world number leader that was not in the USA or Japan.
