MT Vasudevan Nair (2011)

MT Vasudevan Nair ( Madathil Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair ( Malayalam : എം. ടി. വാസുദേവൻ നായർ); born August 9, 1933 in Palghat , Kerala , India ) is an Indian writer who writes in Malayalam. He is one of the most important authors in the Malayalam language area and in modern Indian literature in general. He wrote stories and short stories and documented the situation of the people of Kerala, a south-west Indian state, after the independence of India. He is also a famous film director and screenwriter.

life and work

He was born in Kudallur, a small village near Palghat, India. His debut novel Naalukettu , written at the age of 23, won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958. His other novels are Manju (Fog), Kaalam (Time), Asuravithu (The Prodigal Son) and Randamoozham (The Second Turn) .

He has made seven films and written the script for around 54 films. He won the Indian National Film Award for Best Screenplay four times for: Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha (1989), Kadavu (1991), Sadayam (1992) and Parinayam (1994).
