Jens Martin

Jens Martin (* 1963 in Pirna ) is a German sports medicine specialist and university professor .

Life

Martin studied medicine from 1981 to 1987, initially at the Volgograd State Medical University in the Soviet Union . After completing his studies, he completed specialist training in sports medicine at the Central Institute for Sports Medicine in Kreischa , at the Dresden Medical Academy and at the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig . From 1987 he was jointly responsible for the medical care of the GDR junior volleyball national teams. At the DHfK he also received a training science education. In 1991 Martin's doctoral thesis was accepted at the Institute for Physiology at the Charité in Berlin . In 1994 he completed further specialist training in physical and rehabilitation medicine, which took place in Schaufling and Plattling .

From 1994 to 1998 he worked as senior or chief physician in the department for orthopedics and sports medicine in the specialist clinic Bavaria Schaufling and as head of the institute for applied sports medicine in Schaufling and Freyung . In 1998 Martin settled as a specialist in Deggendorf , and he also took over the management of the Lower Bavarian sports medical examination and advice center. Furthermore, Martin, who took courses for a trainer activity in competitive sports at the German Swimming Association , was the cadre trainer of the Bavarian Swimming Association in Lower Bavaria from 2008 to 2013. In 2013 he worked for the Swiss Swimming Association as an athletic trainer in an advisory capacity at the national team base in Tenero (Ticino).

At the Bavarian Sports Medical Association he took up the post of deputy chairman for advanced training and took on tasks as a trainer and examiner in the field of sports medicine on behalf of the Bavarian Medical Association. Martin has also been a lecturer in the training of physiotherapists and trainers since 1992.

From 2013 he worked at the Eidgenössische Hochschule für Sport Magglingen as a senior doctor of the Swiss Olympic Medical Center and from autumn 2014 as a university lecturer at the Deggendorf University of Technology. On March 1, 2015, he was appointed to a professorship in applied training sciences with a focus on human physiology at TH Deggendorf.

The focus of his scientific work is on the subject areas of neurovegetative stress assessment, training control and sports medicine injury rehabilitation.
