Maz off! was the first television show moderated by Harald Schmidt . Originally located in the Third Programs, it was broadcast after 14 episodes due to its great success in the First.

principle

Four prominent candidates in two teams answered questions about excerpts from the then current TV program of the ARD; these excerpts were recorded after the start command “Maz down!” - Maz stands for magnetic recording . The show thus served as an advertising platform for ARD programs.

The candidates played for two clubs that were in the audience and received 100 DM for each point their team won. However, Harald Schmidt awarded the points according to his mood, which often resulted in a tie between the two teams.
