Model of the Barcelona Olympic Port in 1990

MBM Arquitectes is a Spanish architecture firm based in Barcelona . The comparatively small office in the old town of Barcelona has existed since 1951. It was founded by Josep Martorell and Oriol Bohigas Guardiola in 1951, and David Mackay has been with it since 1962 .

Work

The office has planned many residential buildings and schools in Barcelona. The largest project to date was the general development plan for the 1992 Summer Olympics , in which an entire district, which was an industrial district, was converted into a residential area. This residential area was an Olympic village during the Summer Games , the apartments were planned in such a way that the mostly 2-bed apartments of the athletes could be converted into 2-4-room condominiums with just a few conversions. The long-distance railway was laid completely underground, the very popular city beach of Barcelona was created in the immediate vicinity of the center as well as the inner-city motorway ring with the Nus de la Trinitat ( location ). This intersection, which looks like a roundabout, has a circumference of 1.1 kilometers, but is not completely drivable all around.

The office now includes the architects Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila and Francesc Gual . In the 1990s Albert Puigdomènech was also involved in the work.
