MC thyristor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An MCT , English MOS Controlled Thyristor , is a special thyristor . It is a further development of the GTO thyristor , but in contrast to this, it is switched voltage-controlled with the aid of a switch-on MOSFET ( on-FET ) and a switch-off MOSFET ( off-FET ). This combination is easily controllable electrically, but more difficult to manufacture.
