biography

Natalia Scott grew up on a farm on New Zealand's North Island in the Taranaki region . In the 1990s she was mostly interested in hip-hop music and started as a rapper. After a failed acting degree, she went to the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art in Christchurch and discovered the city's rave scene for herself. She was in a relationship with an MC and gradually became an MC herself. After graduating, she started her own career as MC Tali. Eventually she went to Australia and made a name for herself as a drum and bass musician. In Melbourne she got the chance to play in front of the British producer Roni Size , who invited her to visit him in England. She moved to Europe and was actually signed by Size for Full Cycle Records .

In 2002 she made it straight into the UK charts with her first single Lyric on My Lip . A year later she had another minor chart success with High Hopes . At the beginning of the following year she was in the BBC -Forecast Sound of 2004 added, reaching among the most promising musicians of the year course 9. Soon after, the third single was blazin ' in the singles charts at number 42 and the re-release of Lyric on My Lip as The theme song of her debut album earned her a top 40 ranking. The album was the first by a female MC.

Although she did not get any further chart placements, she is one of the most successful representatives of the genre. She performs worldwide in front of large audiences and at major festivals such as Glastonbury , and from 2008 onwards she won the Drum-n-Bass Award for best female MC three times in a row.
