MD-NET

The MD-Net ( M uskel D ystrophie Net zwerk) is an interdisciplinary medical network with the purpose of researching muscular dystrophies . One goal of the network is to deepen the understanding of the pathogenesis of muscular dystrophies, to optimize the diagnosis of the diseases and to develop therapies for their effective treatment.

The network has existed since 2003 and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the establishment of networks for rare diseases . The network activities are coordinated by the Friedrich Baur Institute at the Neurological Clinic of the University of Munich . MD-NET is also a partner organization in the European research project Eurobiobank and since 2007 in the European research network TREAT-NMD .
