MFchi is a commercial Bible program for Windows , with a plurality of CD-ROMs / DVDs from the Christian is supplied area. These CD-ROMs are offered under various names, such as ELBIWIN , CD-ROM Bible Edition or bibeldigital . The reason for this is that the software is published by different publishers, which mostly value their own product name.

Software description

MFchi has been developed since the early 1990s. For the first time it was offered as a product under the name "ELBIWIN 3.0" together with the revised Elberfeld Bible . In the meantime the product range has been expanded significantly. The products that contain MFchi are now also designed for areas such as Bible reading, Bible study, preparation for church services, child and youth work and religious instruction. In terms of content, a broad spectrum of Christian directions is covered.

Thanks to the modular structure of MFchi, all products can be used under one program interface. The texts are often linked so that, for example, a reference to a Bible passage can be looked up in a lexicon with a click of the mouse.

MFchi is offered in two different versions: MFchi compact and MFchi pro. The Pro version offers a larger number of functions compared to the compact version. If you have purchased both compact and pro version products, all texts are available under the pro version.

MFchi pro has an import function that can also be used to import your own Bible texts. The import format used here corresponds to the export format of the online Bible . This makes it possible, among other things, to use a large part of the foreign language Bible translations that are offered for the online Bible with MFchi.

Meaning of MFchi

“MF” stands for the author of the software: Matthias Frey. The Greek letter "chi" is supposed to refer to Christ, who is seen as the center of the software.

Alternative Bible programs

The main advantage of MFchi over other products lies in the large number of German-language texts protected by copyright . The disadvantage is that you have to pay for products with MFchi - unlike for some other programs. For working with the old-language Bible texts, Bible programs that are better adapted to this and that have special functions such as the grammatical definition of words are more suitable. See the Bible Program article for advice on alternatives.
