MT News Watcher is an English Usenet - News Reader for Mac OS X and Mac OS . The newsreader is originally based on the NewsWatcher program by John Norstad, which has been intensively developed and improved by Simon Fraser since the mid-1990s and is now one of the veteran newsreaders for the Mac.

MT-NewsWatcher works exclusively online . In addition to its function as a news reader, it can also be used to receive and send e-mails . Its special features include flexible sorting and filtering options that support regular expressions and thus facilitate navigation through threads and postings . In addition to text-oriented groups, the newsreader is also suitable for binary groups (binaries), as it is able to load binary files that are often divided into individual articles and encoded using methods such as yEnc , and to combine them automatically. Pictures, films and audio files can be displayed and played directly in the program window. MT-NewsWatcher also has speech recognition and was the first newsreader that can be controlled via voice input. It is possible to use the newsreader on several computers at the same time by sharing a newsrc file that is synchronized. The program can display XFaces and is AppleScript capable.
