MVP Track & Field Club

The MVP Track & Field Club is a Jamaican athletics club. He is a full member of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association . The acronym MVP, which alludes to the M ost V aluable P layer (most valuable player), which is often awarded in team sports , means maximizing velocity and power . The club was founded in 1999 by athletics coaches Stephen Francis, David Noel, Paul Francis and Bruce James with the intention of preventing the brain drain of talented young athletes from colleges in the USA by giving them the opportunity to stay and train in Jamaica. The MVP currently has more than 50 members. These include a number of outstanding athletes who, along with others , ensured Jamaica's dominance in the running and jumping competitions at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. These include Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sherone Simpson over the 100 m , Shericka Williams over the 400 m , Melaine Walker over the 400 m hurdles and Brigitte Foster-Hylton over the 100 m hurdles . In the men's category, alongside 100-meter sprinters Nesta Carter and Asafa Powell , Brit Germaine Mason was the silver medalist in the high jump. Numerous world, continental and national records, also in the junior sector, are held by athletes from the club.
