The Maderas is a stratovolcano in Nicaragua . It is the second highest on Ometepe Island after the Concepción (volcano) . In historical times he was not active. There is a crater lake in its crater.
The Maderas is one of the few places on the Pacific side of Nicaragua on which cloud forest grows.
The only other place with cloud forest is the Mombacho .
That cloud forest is characterized by high humidity and a diverse fauna and flora. Petroglyphs have been found on the Maderas . Climbing the Madera is a tourist attraction.
