Madrid Railroad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Madrid Railroad is a former railway company in Maine ( United States ) with headquarters in Phillips . It was founded on April 29, 1902. The opening of the Madrid Junction – No. 6 in 610 mm gauge and a branch to Madrid took place in the summer of 1903. The operation was incumbent on Phillips & Rangeley, but the line belonged to the Madrid Railroad. The main task of the railway was to transport the wood produced in and around Weld Township . The end point was right next to a lumberjack camp. In 1905 the Madrid Railroad went bankrupt like the Phillips & Rangeley and on July 1, 1908, the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad took over the two companies. In 1932 the routes of the Madrid Railroad were closed.
