Magdalene White

Magdalene Weiß (* 1956 ) is a German midwife and was President of the German Midwives Association (DHV) from 1997 to 2005 , at that time still the Association of German Midwives (BDH).

Weiß studied music and theology from 1976 to 1978 before starting to train as a midwife. In 1983 she passed her midwifery exam at the gynecological clinic of the University Hospital in Tübingen , then worked as an employed midwife in the Herrenberg district hospital until 1994, where she also became a senior midwife. At the same time, she practiced freelance. Until 1997 she was employed as a midwife at the University Women's Clinic in Tübingen.

After her election as president of the BDH in 1997, she was also on the board of the Women's Health Working Group (AKF) from 1999 to 2002 and wrote the monthly editorial in the association journal of the BDH Midwives Forum . During her presidency, she initiated the introduction of midwifery delivery rooms in Germany.

After the end of her presidency, Magdalene Weiß works on a ward for high-risk pregnant women in Tübingen.
