history

In 2001, WizKids launched the first game of its kind, Mage Knight. The principle of a strategy game, in which the characters could be collected, met with great approval and was a complete success. Other games of this type are for example HeroClix and Mech Warrior .

The game, initially based only on a few different parties and characters' skills, became more and more complex over time, so that with the appearance of countless expansions, an extreme deviation from the previous game pattern was achieved. Because of the increasing change, WizKids decided to never break the promise to introduce a rotation as with Magic (old characters may no longer be used in tournaments after a certain time). From the end of 2005 this led to the fact that the company WizKids stopped the production of the game and the support of tournaments, events etc. was ended. The last event worth mentioning was the German Mage Knight Championship 2005 from which Tobias Flacke emerged as the winner.

Several game parts and individual figures received awards, including a. the Origins Award .

In September 2006 a computer game variant called: Mage Knight Apocalypse was launched.
