The book series is about the 13-year-old witch girls Elena and Miranda. Elena's family emigrates into the human world, called 'Hexil' by the witches, in order to restore the family honor, because her father Leon was on trial and was turned into an iguana for an indefinite period of time as a punishment. Her best friend Miranda accompanies Elena to the 'Hexil' because she wants to support Elena and sees it as very instructive to learn more about the people. The two girls not only experience dangerous adventures again and again, but also make new friendships in the human world and - because of the limited possibilities for magic - have to deal with everyday problems and their first romantic feelings.
