A magnesia channel is an approx. 8 to 10 cm long, narrow, slightly curved white channel made of magnesium oxide . Because of its extraordinarily high melting point (over 2600 ° C ), it is mainly used in the analytical laboratory for preliminary sample analysis (e.g. oxidation melt ) and for glowing or burning small amounts of substance.
