The memorial for the victims of fascism , also called the memorial for the victims of the concentration camps or memorial for the victims of fascism in the Bogunskiy forest , was erected in 1996 in the Boguniya district of the city of Zhytomyr in Ukraine . Its creators are the sculptor Josef Tabachnyk and the architect Peter Biryuk. The memorial is dedicated to the peaceful citizens and prisoners of war executed at this site (over 110,000 people). Here, on the outskirts of Zhytomyr, from January 1941 to November 1943 the Wehrmacht POW camp “ Stalag 358 ” was located.

The monument is a sculptural composition made of bronze and pink granite (height 6.5 m). In the middle of the monument is a disembodied, almost weightless bronze figure, rather a spirit of the person who has already lost its matter and only whose courage, strength and invincibility flutter around in the room. Looking, speaking, asking and screaming out of the stone carvings are the faces of those who were only a short time human and have now become eternity.

At the base of the monument there is a granite slab (1.5 × 0.65 m) with the inscription:

"This earth, which has seen much suffering, is a witness of the atrocities of the fascist extermination of tens of thousands of prisoners of war and peaceful citizens of Zhytomyr from 1941 to 1943. In eternal memory of the dead."

In 2002, a capsule containing the remains of the residents of Zhytomyr, who were tortured to death in Majdanek concentration camp , was buried there. The engraving on it says:

“This is the place where the remains of our compatriots who were tortured to death in Hitler's Majdanek concentration camp were buried. In eternal remembrance."

To the right of the composition is a pink granite slab with the inscription “Sculptor J. Tabachnyk and Architect P. Biryuk”.
