The Mainz Kantorei St. Alban is a choir that is involved in the church service. The repertoire ranges from the 14th to the 20th century. The choir was founded in 1971 by Heinz Lamby , who continues to run it to this day. Their home is the parish of St. Alban (Alban von Mainz) in the Upper Town of Mainz . The main tasks are the organization of church services and religious concerts in and outside of Mainz . The choir rehearsals take place twice a week in the crypt of the Albanskirche. The choir became known, among other things, through numerous appearances on the radio ( SWR ) or the turntable on ZDF . Concert tours to distant countries are made regularly in autumn. Italy, Austria, England, Spain and Israel are just a few examples. Not only concerts were given there, but also numerous church services. Words of praise can often be found in the Rhein-Main press. One of the absolute highlights was the design of the divine service on the occasion of Pope John Paul II's visit to Mainz Finthen in 1980.
