Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée

The Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée Jean-Pouilloux (MOM) is a research federation based at the University of Lyon . Her focus is the history of the Mediterranean and the Middle East since the beginning of human history. Its founder in 1975 was Jean Pouilloux . At that time it was still called the Maison de l'Orient méditerranéen ancien . Around 350 archaeologists, historians and ephigraphers, as well as chemists and geologists, political scientists and architects are employed there (as of 2018).

In order to structure the huge field of research, four departments were created, namely Histoire et sources des mondes antiques , Archéorient. Environnements et sociétés de l'orient ancien , Laboratoire Arar. Archéologie et Archéométrie and the Institut de Recherche sur l'Architecture Antique (Antenne de Lyon) .
