Maladera (Maladera) holosericea (also dark silk beetles ) is a beetle from the family of scarab beetles (Scarabaeidae).

features

The black to red-brown colored beetles have a body length of 6–9 mm. The body is strongly arched. The antennae and legs are red.

Occurrence and habitat

The distribution area of Maladera holosericea extends over the Palearctic (Europe, Central Asia, Far East). The species occurs only sporadically and rarely in Central Europe. The heat-loving beetle species prefers sandy areas in the lowlands and in the lower hill country.

Way of life

The beetles fly from spring to autumn. They are often found on grass and in bushes. The larvae feed on roots.
