Malieus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Malieus ( Greek  Μαλιεύς ) was supposedly the name of an ancient city in Boeotia .

The name is only mentioned by Stephanos of Byzantium , after which the Malians derived their name from a city called Malieus, which was named after Malos .

The name goes back to a mistake in Stephanos of Byzantium, the original lemma was probably Μαλιεῖς · ἒθνος .
