Malls or Mallspanten are templates for construction of a ship's hull can be used. They serve as a model of the ship's hull on which the planks of the hull are attached. In contrast to frames , malls are removed after the hull has been completed and can be reused for another hull of the same type. After the malls have been removed, usually curved frames are used as "real" frames.
