Malsanctum is an anonymous Canadian funeral doom band that has been active since at least 2015 .

history

Malsanctum was first noticed with the demo tape Metamorbid Fetishization , published in 2015 via Iron Bonehead Productions . The demo, limited to 300 copies, has received international reviews. The assessments of the music varied from positive reviews to the statement that the music could not be assessed. The self-titled debut album was released in 2018, also via Irone Bonehead Productions, and was recorded by reviewers as diverse as the demo.

concept

Malsanctum does not disclose any official statements about the band members involved, the instruments used, the history of the group or the themes and lyrics. The group's publications are limited to the music and the graphic design of the sound carriers. Canada is given as the place of origin of the band. Despite the lack of any positioning of the group, publication of the concepts or the reprint of the texts, the group is perceived by reviewers as "unchristian" and " satanic " based on their sound carrier design and the song title .

style

The music presented by Malsanctum is described as a “combination of funeral doom , noise and black metal ” as well as “ ambient black and doom ”. An eerie atmospheric effect is usually emphasized.

Reviewers describe the music as "[u] nbehaglich grottiges roar with Hall and occasional voice Einspielern disharmonious, how much screeching guitars and distant drumbeats [the] one is willing and highly standardized foreign undertaking," revealed and primitive as "repetitive beats, screams of pain, growls and ultra Sound products [which] resist the laws of music theory with all their might ”.
