Mama Killa

Mama Killa ( Quechua , dt. Mother Moon ) was in the mythology of the Inca as a moon deity a protective goddess for married women and is part of the Inca calendar as well as various festivals of the Inca . Their symbol is a silver disk on which a human face can be seen.

She is said to have been the wife of Inti , the sun god. Her parents were the creator god Wiraqucha and his wife Mama Qucha . Tayta Inti and Mama Killa were the parents of the first Inca ruler Manco Cápac and his wife Mama Ocllo . After the Ichma (entry of the Chimú into the Inca Empire ) the Chimú recognized the Mama Killa as the mother of their god Pachakamaq .
