Mamiya Universal

The Mamiya Universal is a press camera from the Japanese manufacturer Mamiya with an image format of 6 × 9 cm .

description

The Mamiya Universal was the last of a series of press cameras of this type from Mamiya (see also camera system ) , which was built from 1969 to the 1990s. The area of application ranged from press photos to passport photos to landscape and macro photography. The upright shape is characteristic. The company Polaroid brought instant versions of the Mamiya Press onto the market (600 with 127 mm fixed focal length and 600SE with interchangeable lenses). Other variants included the Press, the Super 23, and the Universal Press in black paint. In contrast to its predecessors, the Universal (hence the name) was not equipped with a certain type of interchangeable magazine connection, but instead allowed Mamiya's own film cassettes or film cassettes to be attached via the two adapters "M" (Mamiya) and "G" ( Graflex ) . of Graflex backs, the latter also including the interchangeable magazines for the Mamiya RB67, which were also designed to be Graflex compatible.

The Mamiya 6 and Mamiya 7, which are also rangefinder cameras, but sacrifice flexibility in favor of ease of use, can possibly be seen as the late successors of the Universal.
