Mammalian Species is a zoological series published by the American Mammalian Society. It has been published since 1969 with 15 to 25 species portraits of various mammals per year. The series is distributed by the American Society of Mammalogists and BioOne . By February 2020 the issue of the seven-banded armadillo ( Dasypus septemcinctus ) had appeared in total 987 issues.

The font collection consists of complete descriptions of individual mammal species, which are compiled by international experts from the American Society of Mammalogists and associated researchers. They usually contain three to fourteen pages on each species and provide information on all aspects of the biology of these animals, including a. about the morphology , ecology , distribution, behavioral biology , physiology , taxonomy and fossil history of the species.
