Mammorenal Syndrome

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As mammorenales syndrome the common occurrence of is malformation of the kidney with the system of excess nipples ( polythelia ), respectively. An accumulation has been described in individual families.

Clinical significance

The clinical significance of the syndrome is controversial. Several studies showed no or only a small association between polythelia and malformations of the genitourinary system, which is why it was concluded that further diagnostic examinations are not necessary in otherwise clinically normal newborns with polythelia. Other authors document a significant incidence of kidney malformations in children with polythelia and therefore call for detailed, further diagnostics in this group of people.
