Dermatology is a scientific journal that publishes work in the medical branch of dermatology . It is the official journal of the Swiss Society for Dermatology and Venereology and the Royal Belgian Society for Dermatology and Venereology and is published by Karger-Verlag . It was founded in 1893 as a dermatological journal and renamed Dermatologica in 1939 . The magazine has had its current name since 1993.

The founder and first editor-in-chief of the magazine was the German dermatologist Oskar Lassar . Other famous editors of the magazine were Wilhelm Lutz (1939–1958) and Rudolf Schuppli (1959–1985).

The impact factor in 2014 was 1.569. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal with this impact factor is ranked 31st out of 62 journals in the dermatology category.
