Mamutica in Zagreb is one of the most important social housing structures of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia .

History and conception

The building was completed in 1975 according to plans by the architect Đure Mirkovića . The building is one of the largest residential buildings in Europe. 1212 apartments are housed in the 240 meter long, 70 meter high building. Almost 5,000 people live in the building. Nowadays the building is considered to be the biggest social hot spot in Croatia.
