Mandaean script

The Mandaean script is based on the Aramaic script and is used to write the Mandaean language . The Mandaean name of the script is Abagada or Abaga, after the first letter of the alphabet, similar to the Arabic Abdschad . The alphabet consists of 24 letters; the 22 letters of the Aramaic alphabet and two additional letters at the end. Unlike most Semitic alphabets, the vowels are written.
