not rebuilt after the dam broke

The Almond Woods Pond (also called Wormketalsperre ) was a pond that was about 400 m above Almond Wood . He dammed up the wormke .

history

The dam was built in the 15th century at the latest. It served to supply water to the ironworks Zur Bast (1471; today Basthütte), Neue Hütte (approx. 1500), Lüdershof (1506) and Rothehütte (1678; all three of the latter are now part of Königshütte ). As a result of heavy flooding, the dam broke on July 22nd, 1855, whereupon the villages of Rothehütte and Königshof (today's Königshütte), located further down in the valley, were almost completely devastated. After that, the dam was not rebuilt.
