Manderbach vehicle construction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Manderbach Fahrzeugbau company in Wissenbach ( Dillkreis ) produced light trucks from 1949 to 1956.

prehistory

In 1899, Louis Manderbach founded a craft business in Wissenbach near Dillenburg and produced horse and carts for 30 years . Manderbach only began building delivery vans in 1926, initially producing three-wheel delivery vans . The front part of the car consisted of half a motorcycle (front fork and motor), at the rear a flatbed was built on an axle with two wheels.

Commercial vehicle construction

In the 1930s, a cooperation was agreed with the commercial vehicle manufacturer Framo in Saxony. This produced similar three- and four-wheeled commercial vehicles. Manderbach assembled the Framo vehicles until the Second World War. In 1949 Manderbach built its own delivery vans again, although the Framo design was retained.

Manderbach wanted to offer the air-cooled DKW built-in engines with front-wheel drive, but they were not available to him at the time. He was able to switch to the 1.2 liter engine from the Ford Taunus . After Louis Manderbach's death in 1949, his son took over the company. In 1954, the company had to register a settlement, and commercial vehicle construction ceased in 1956. From 1945 to 1956 a total of 598 flatbed and box vans were manufactured. Until 1960 Manderbach could still do bodywork.
