Ford Taunus
Ford Taunus was the name of a number of mid -range automobiles produced by the German Ford-Werke AG , Cologne.
Taunus as a brand name
After the Second World War and until 1967, all German Ford car models were named “ Taunus ” . "Taunus" was a brand name until 1967 and at the same time a synonym for Ford Germany. An emblem similar to the Cologne coat of arms was used as the logo . From 1970 to 1982 Taunus was the model name of the mid-range Ford.
The cars had names like 12M, 17M etc, but were sold under the “Taunus” brand. The "M" in the name means "masterpiece". A small delivery van was also offered as the “ Taunus Transit ”. In 1967, with the appearance of the P7 models , the name Taunus disappeared and the vehicles were now only called Ford 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M.
