The Ford Streetka was a car model made by the car manufacturer Ford . The roadster , which was built by the Italian company Pininfarina , came onto the market in Germany in May 2003. It was a pure two-seater with a fabric hood. From 2004 the car was available with a hardtop as an alternative .

Production of the Streetka ran out in July 2005 after 37,000 vehicles, as Pininfarina needed the capacities for the production of the new Ford Focus Cabriolet , among other things .

design

The Streetka was presented as a study by Ford at the Turin Motor Show 2000. The vehicle was based on the Ford Saetta concept vehicle developed by Ghia and presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1996 . The design of the Streetka was based on that of the Ford Ka with its New Edge design , so the Streetka is often incorrectly referred to as the convertible version of the Ka. A modified chassis and wider aprons with standard 16-inch alloy wheels gave the Streetka a significantly sportier look. These were later adopted in the Sportka , a more powerful version of the Ka. Particularly noticeable was the round reversing light located in the center below the license plate in the rear apron.

Although the study came up with a revolutionary interior design, the production version of the Streetka was presented at the Paris Motor Show 2002 with the conventional dashboard of the Ka.

technology

The Streetka, like the Ka, was based on the floor pan of the '96 Ford Fiesta . It was powered by a 1.6 liter Duratec engine. This cast iron -Vierzylinder was with overhead camshaft and aluminum - Cylinder head equipped and developed 70  kW (95  hp ). It had hydraulic valve lifters and a timing chain instead of a toothed belt , which kept maintenance costs low. From 2003 this engine was also available in the Sportka .

Power was transmitted via a hydraulically operated clutch and a five-speed manual transmission .

The Streetka had central locking with radio remote control, rev counter, fog lights and ABS as standard .

Model variants

The Streetka was available in Germany in the basic version from 16,900 euros with fabric seats and Ford CD radio 6000. There was also an Elegance model, which was also equipped with air conditioning , a 6-CD changer radio and leather seats with heated seats, and 4 loudspeakers were installed. The price of this model in Germany was 19,500 euros.

In January 2005 there was a facelift, from now on new vehicles - just like the Ka - were equipped with a different dashboard with a “classic” glove compartment. There were also new electronic functions, for example a freely programmable wiper interval. The convertible top flap could now be opened without an active ignition and there was a flashing signal when the car lock was opened by remote control.

Others

Ford won over Australian singer Kylie Minogue for the advertising campaign for the launch of the Streetka .

The commercial with the Streetka driving into the setting sun played the song "Black Steel" by Tricky .

In 2004 Ford produced a special edition of 8 vehicles for the film Thunderbirds , painted in pink. On a plaque in the interior next to the serial number you can see the signature of Sophia Myles , who drove the car in the role of "Lady Penelope".
