Manfred Kraff

Manfred Kraff (born March 24, 1959 in Saarburg ) is a German EU civil servant and has been Director General of the Internal Audit Service (DG IAS) of the European Union since 2017 .

Life

Manfred Kraff finished school with the Abitur in Trier in 1977. After serving in the German Armed Forces, he completed an apprenticeship in administration and part-time a distance learning course in economics at the University of Hagen , graduating in 1987. He was graduated from the University of Freiburg im Breisgau in 1997 with a thesis on financial equalization in the European Union: theory, practice and perspectives for Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

Manfred Kraff worked for the Federal Employment Agency from 1981 to 1983. He then moved to the service of the European Commission. From 1988 to 2012 he worked for the EU Court of Auditors, most recently from 2008 as Director in the Audit Department. From 2012 he was Deputy Director General of the Budget Directorate-General . He has been head of the internal audit service since March 2017. His appointment is the subject of an inquiry by the European Ombudsman that opened in December 2017.
