Internal audit service

The Internal Audit Service (IAS) is a service of the European Commission . The office is assigned to the First Vice President Frans Timmermans and is headed by General Director Manfred Kraff . The IAS carries out around 150 audits per year in the various departments of the Commission, recommending how they can improve their administrative processes (for risks, controls and governance) in order to promote effective and efficient administration.

Directorates

The service is based in Brussels and is divided into three directorates:

  • Directorate A: Audit in EU agencies and other independent bodies
  • Directorate B: Audit in the Commission and Executive Agencies I
  • Directorate C: Audit in the Commission and Executive Agencies II
