Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies

The Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (abbreviated DG Connect , English Directorate-General Communications Networks, Content and Technology , French direction générale des réseaux de communication, you contenu et des technologies ) is a Directorate General of the European Commission , which organizationally to the DGs Policy fields (Policies) belongs. DG Connect is assigned to the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society . After the re-establishment in 2012, the head of the general management was the Briton Robert Madelin . His deputy Roberto Viola replaced him as General Manager in 2015.

Until 2012, DG Connect was still called DG INFSO ( Directorate General for the Information Society and Media ).

The Directorate-General works for the EU project Digital Single Market .

Directorates

The directorate-general consists of eight directorates, which are divided into four to six units, depending on their size.

  • Directorate A - Components and Systems
  • Directorate B - Electronic communications networks and services
  • Directorate C - Scientific Excellence
  • Directorate D - Cooperation
  • Directorate E - Network Future
  • Directorate F - Digital Economy and Coordination
  • Directorate G - Media and Data
  • Directorate H - Digital Society, Trust and Security
