Publications Office of the European Union

The Publications Office of the European Union (EUR-OP, French Office des publications de l'Union européenne , English Publications Office of the European Union ) is the publishing house of the institutions and other bodies of the European Union (EU). The Office publishes official documents and EU public relations material , both in print and online. To do this, it operates several websites .

The office has the rank of Directorate General of the European Commission and is based in Luxembourg . It has existed as an independent institution since 1969, but had a forerunner in the publication service of the European Coal and Steel Community since 1952 . In the meantime it was called the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities.

The Office publishes the Official Journal of the European Union every day in all official EU languages. It also offers several online services with free access to information on EU law ( EUR-Lex ), EU publications, EU public procurement ( TED ) and EU-funded research and development ( CORDIS ).

The office has been headed by Rudolf Strohmeier since May 1, 2016 .

The EUR-OP sees itself as a publishing house which is obliged to provide its clients, the services of the institutions and other bodies of the European Union, and its customers, European citizens and those interested in European issues from other parts of the world, with high quality To offer services.

The Office is legally based on the interinstitutional agreement of July 22, 2000.
