Directorate-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations

The Directorate-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) is a Directorate-General of the European Commission . She is assigned to the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy , currently (2020) Olivér Várhelyi . Christian Danielsson is the head of the general management .

This General Directorate of the Commission is responsible for the enlargement of the European Union and maintains relations with the EU's eastern and southern neighboring countries. She continues to be responsible for relations with the member states of the European Economic Area and the European Free Trade Association in matters relating to Commission measures.

Directorates

The General Management is divided into the following six directorates:

  • Directorate A: Resources
  • Directorate B: Southern Neighboring States
  • Directorate A: Strategy and Turkey
  • Directorate C: Eastern Neighboring States
  • Directorate D: Western Balkans
  • SGUA Directorate: Ukraine Support Group
