Christian Danielsson

Christian Danielsson (born September 27, 1956 in Lidingö ) is a Swedish EU official and has been Director General of the Directorate-General for Enlargement of the European Union since 2013 .

Danielsson studied economics at Stockholm University from 1977 to 1981 . He then joined the Swedish diplomatic service and was at the missions in Angola (1982 to 1984), the Organization for Economic Cooperation (1984 to 1987) and the European Union (1992 to 1995, 1999 to 2002 and again in 2008 to 2010).

In the service of the EU he was first employed in the cabinet of EU Commissioner Anita Gradin from 1995 to 1999, then from 2002 to 2005 as Vice-Cabinet Head for Commissioner Günter Verheugen . In 2011 he became Deputy Director General in the Directorate-General for Enlargement and took over the management of the authority on October 1, 2013.
