Romeo Morri

Romeo Morri (born March 10, 1952 in Serravalle ) is a San Marinese politician and writer.

Life

Morri has a degree in pharmacy. He belonged to the PDCS , was its group chairman in the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale and political secretary of the party. In 2003 he was one of the founders of the Popolari Sammarinesi , of which he became honorary chairman in 2004.

He was elected to parliament for the first time in 1983 on the PDCS list. Also in the following elections in 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2001, he entered parliament on the PDCS list. In the 2006 parliamentary election, he won the only seat of the newly founded Popolari Sammarinesi. In the early elections in 2008, the Popolari Sammarinese and the Alleanza Nazionale Sammarinese formed the Unione Sammarinese dei Moderati , which belonged to the Patto per San Marino coalition . Morri won one of the two USdM mandates. In the early elections in 2012, the Moderati Sammarinesi joined the Intesa per il Paese coalition , but failed to make it into the Consiglio Grande e Generale with 1.72% of the vote.

For the period from October 1, 1992 to April 1, 1993, Morri was elected head of state (Capitano Reggente) together with Marino Zanotti . From 1998 to July 2001, Morri was Minister of Labor in the PDCS-led government. After the 2001 elections, he left the government, but was foreign minister for a short time from May to June 2002. In the legislative period from 2006 to 2008, the Popolari Sammarinese belonged to the opposition, after the elections in 2008 the Patto per San Marino, to which the USdM also belonged, provided the government. Morri became Minister of Education (Segretario di Stato per l'Istruzione e Cultura, Università e Politiche Giovanile) . On July 16, 2012, Morri and Justice Minister Augusto Casali announced their resignation, the resulting government crisis led to the early elections in November 2012.

Romeo Morri is the author of several books dealing with the culture and history of San Marino.

He is married with one daughter and lives in Serravalle.
