Giuseppe Maria Morganti

Giuseppe Maria Morganti (born March 12, 1955 in San Marino ) is a politician from San Marino . From October 1, 2002 to April 1, 2003, he was Capitano Reggente (Head of State) of San Marino and from 2012 to 2016 San-Marinese Minister of Education.

Morganti was a journalist at La Tribuna sammarinese and then at Edizione AIEP . From April 2003 to February 2005 he was secretary of the Partito Democratico, then until December 2007 chairman of the Partito dei Socialisti e dei Democratici . In the parliamentary elections in 1998 he reached number 14 on the list of the Partito Progressista Democratico Sammarinese, which won 11 seats. In the 2001 elections he first elected the Consiglio Grande e Generale to parliament , to which he has been a member since then. From October 1, 2002 to April 1, 2003 he was together with Mauro Chiaruzzi Capitano Reggente (head of state). From 2008 to 2012 he was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. and Judiciary Committee. Since 2012 he has headed the Ministry of Education (Segretario di Stato Pubblica istruzione, Cultura, Università Ricerca Scientifica, Affari sociali e Pari opportunità) .

Before the general election in 2016, he joined the newly founded Sinistra Socialista Democratica (SSD) and was re-elected to parliament. He is parliamentary group leader of the SSD.
