Marco Podeschi

Marco Podeschi (born February 5, 1969 in San Marino ) is a politician from San Marino, he has been the Minister of Education of San Marino since December 27, 2016.

Life

From 1989 to 1995 he studied at the Scienze Internazionali e Diplomatiche at the University of Trieste , which he completed with a doctorate.

From 1997 to 1998 he was Personal Assistant to the Minister for Education and Justice Pier Marino Menicucci . From 1999 to 2001 he was employed by the San Marinese bank Istituto di Credito Sammarinese . subsequently he headed the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2002. From 2002 to 2005 he was employed by the San Marinese Central Bank . Then until 2006 personal advisor to Information Minister Giovanni Lonfernini . Podeschi returned to the Central Bank for a year, was Coordinator of the Ministry of Labor from 2007 to 2008 and has been working for the Central Bank again since 2008. From 2011 to 2013 he was Secretary of the Fodazione Banca Centrale Foundation .

Podeschi is married and has two children, who lived in Fiorentino .

Politics and public offices

Podeschi began his political career at the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS), whose youth organization he headed from 1994 to 1998. From 1998 to 2001 he sat for the PDCS in the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale . He was a member of the External Affairs Committee (Commissione Consiliare Permanente Affari Esteri; emigrazione e immigrazione sicurezza e ordine pubblico informazione) and the Committee on Investigation of Drug Addiction (Commissione Consiliare sul fenomeno tossicodipenza) and was a member of the Parliament's Office (Ufficio di Segreteria Consiglio Grande e Generale) .

From 2002 to 2005 Podeschi was a member of the Board of Directors of the Social Insurance (Istituto Sicurezza Sociale) , then from 2005 to 2008 he was Vice President and then until 2010 President of the state utility Azienda Autonoma di Stato per i Servizi Pubblici (AASS).

In 2007 Podeschi founded together with other Christian Democrats, the Democrats of the Centro (DDC) whose Coordinatore he was of 2010. In 2011, DdC merged with the Partito EuroPopolari per San Marino to form the Unione per la Repubblica (UPR). Podeschi was the UPR's spokesman from 2011 to 2013, president in 2014 and parliamentary group leader in 2015.

From 2012 to 2016 Podeschi was a member of parliament for the UPR. He was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Anti-Mafia Commission (Commissione Consiliare sul Fenomeno delle Infiltrazioni della Criminalità Organizzata) , and from 2014 also the Justice Committee.

Before the parliamentary elections in 2016, the UPR merged with Alleanza Popolare to form Repubblica Futura (RF). RF entered the election together with Civico 10 and Sinistra Socialista Democratica (SSD) as a coalition adesso.sm . In the runoff election on December 4th, adesso.sm received an absolute majority. Podeschi was elected to parliament and Minister of Education (Segretario di Stato per l'Istruzione, Cultura e Università, Ricerca, Informazione, Sport, Innovazione Tecnologica e Rapporti con l'AAAS) in the cabinet formed on December 27th .
