from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Giovanni Lonfernini (born October 2, 1976 in San Marino ) is a San Marino politician .

He was elected for the first time in 2001 on the list of the PDCS in the Consiglio Grande e Generale , the Parliament of San Marino. In the 2006 elections he was re-elected to the PDCS list. In 2008 he moved into parliament for the Democratici di Centro and in the 2012 elections he won a seat for the UpR. After a house search was carried out in the course of the investigation into the Mazzini account at Lonfernini, he announced his resignation from parliamentary mandate on November 2, 2014.

Lonfernini was from October 2003 to March 2004, together with Valeria Ciavatta, one of the two Capitani Reggenti (heads of state) of San Marino (there was already a Capitano Reggente of this name in 1934, 1937 and 1941.) From February 2005 to June 2006 he was Secretary of State for Culture.

Together with others, the former General Secretary of the Christian Democrats founded the Democratici di Centro party in 2007 and was its chairman (coordinator) until 2010 . After the merger of Democratici di Centro and Europopolari per San Marino to form the Unione per la Repubblica , Lonfernini became parliamentary group leader of the UpR.
