Pier Marino Menicucci

Pier Marino Menicucci (born September 15, 1958 in Sassocorvaro ) is a San Marinese politician . He was Capitano Reggente (head of state), as well as labor, education and justice minister.

Menicucci was a member of the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS), then joined with other PDCS MPs on July 8, 2007 the newly founded Europopolari per San Marino . From 1983 to 2012 he was a member of the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale . In the coalition of PDCS and Partito Socialista Sammarinese (PSS), which ruled from 1993 to 1998 , Menicucci was Minister of Education and Justice (Deputato di Pubblica Istruzione e Culture, Università e Giustizia) . In the 27th Cabinet , also formed by the PDCS and PSS , he was again Minister of Justice from July 2001 to May 2002 (Segretario di Stato per la Giustizia, i Rapporti con le Giunte di Castello e l'Informazione) . After the government reshuffle on May 20, 2002, he was appointed Minister of Labor in the short-lived 28th Cabinet until June 25, 2002 (Segretario di Stato per il Lavoro e la Cooperazione) . From April 1 to October 1, 2003 he was together with Giovanni Giannoni Capitano Reggente (Head of State) of San Marino. He then became chairman of the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee until the end of the 2006 electoral term. From 2005 to 2007 Menicucci was political secretary (Segretario Politico) of the PDCS.

In June 2007 he resigned from the party together with the PDCS MPs Federico Bartoletti , Gian Marco Marcucci and Nicola Selva and founded the Europopolari per San Marino (EPS) group. In the following parliamentary elections on November 9, 2008, PDCS, EPS and Arengo e Libertà competed on a joint list as part of the Patto per San Marino coalition . Menicucci was re-elected to parliament. He was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a member of the San Marinese delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union . In 2011 the Democratici di Centro merged with the Europopolari per San Marino to form the Unione per la Repubblica . In the elections on November 11, 2012, Marcucci failed to make it into parliament. in May 2013 he was elected President of the UPR.

After Menicucci began investigations into the Conto Mazzini affair, he resigned from all political offices on February 17, 2014. In October 2014, Menicucci, who was accused of forming a criminal organization and of money laundering, was searched and his accounts were frozen in December. On May 19, 2015, the Conto Mazzini trial of 29 suspects, including Menicucci and seven other former members of the government, opened.
