Fernando Bindi

Fernando Bindi (* 1938 in Acquaviva ) is a San Marinese politician .

After graduating from high school in 1957, he completed a humanities degree in Bologna . After graduating, he studied library science. From the University of Urbino he received a diploma in philosophy with distinction. He became a middle school teacher ( scuola media ) in 1966 . From 1972 until his retirement in 1999 he taught history and philosophy at the grammar school.

Fernando Bindi was a member of the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese (PDCS). In 1993 he was one of the founders of Alleanza Popolare (AP). He was a member of the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale , from 1964 to 1969 and from 1978 to 2008.

From 1986 to 1988 he was Minister for Territory ( Deputato per il Territorio, l'Ambiente, l'Agricultura ei Rapporti con AASP ) in the coalition government of Christian Democrats (PDCS) and Communists ( PCS ). After the parliamentary elections in 1988, the PDCS and PCS continued to work together. Bindi remained Minister of the Territory but resigned on February 20, 1990. In the short-lived 30th cabinet he was Minister of Labor from June 25 to December 16, 2002 ( Segretario di Stato per il Lavoro e la Cooperazione ).

After the parliamentary elections in June 2006, Bindi became parliamentary group leader of the AP. He was a member of the committee of inquiry into the casino affair. In December 2007 he was elected Sindaco di Governo. After the AP had moved closer to the PDCS, Bindi resigned the parliamentary group chairmanship in June 2008 and left the party in August.
