Francesca Michelotti

Francesca Michelotti (born February 16, 1952 in San Marino ) is a San Marino politician .

Life

Michelotti studied political science and then worked as a conservator and restorer. In 1976 she became a member of the Monument Protection Commission (Commissione per la conservazione dei monumenti e degli oggi di antichità e d'arte) and in 1993 head of the State Museum (Museo di Stato) .

She began her political career in the eighties in the municipal council (Giunta di Castello) of the Città di San Marino. Michelotti belonged to the Partito Progressista Democratico Sammarinese (PPDS), for which she moved into the San Marinese parliament in 1993, the Consiglio Grande e Generale . Since then she has been a member of Parliament. In 1998 she ran for the PPDS, in the 2001 elections on the list of the Partito dei Democratici Sammarinesi, the successor party of the PPDS. In 2005 she joined the newly founded Partito della Sinistra, for which she entered parliament in 2006 and 2008. The Partito della Sinistra merged in 2012 with the Rifondazione Comunista Sammarinese to form Sinistra Unita, for which it was re-elected to the Consiglio Grande e Generale in 2012. Michelotti was group leader of the PPDS, from 2012 to 2015 she was group leader of Sinistra Unita.

She was a member of the Consiglio dei XII, was a member of the Foreign, Home and Justice Committee. In 1998 she became a member of the Commission for the Reform of the Criminal Code.

From 2000 to 2001 Michelotti was Minister of the Interior and Justice. From 2006 to 2008 she was Minister for Education and Social Affairs (Segretario di Stato per l'Istruzione e la Cultura, l'Università e gli Affari Sociali) .
