Jens White

Jens-Oliver Weiß (* 1968 in Mannheim ) is a German social scientist and has been Professor of Administrative Sciences at the Harz University of Applied Sciences in Halberstadt, Germany, since 2011 .

Life

Weiß grew up in Villingen-Schwenningen and graduated from high school there in 1988. He studied political science, economics and sociology at the Philipps University of Marburg , where he received his doctorate in 1999 with a thesis on environmental policy as actors . He was a member of the political economy research group at the University of Marburg and collaborated on projects at the chair of Birger P. Priddat at the private University of Witten / Herdecke . From 1999, Weiß worked as a consultant and partner in management consultancies. Since March 2011 he has been Professor of Administrative Sciences at the Harz University of Applied Sciences in Halberstadt, and since March 2017 he has been Vice-Rector for University Development and Equal Opportunities there.

Research priorities

White deals with social and organizational change processes and their controllability. His dissertation "Environmental Policy as Actor Action" shows how modern societies construct and deal with environmentally related conflicts. Since 2005 he has mainly been concerned with change processes in public administrations. Recent academic work is analyzing the results of transformation and reform processes in municipal administrations on the basis of various examples - new control model (NSM) , introduction of Doppik, electronic participatory budgeting and e-participation, strategic control, etc. - and working out typical problems in these processes and their causes .
