Claudio Podeschi

Claudio Podeschi (born October 20, 1956 in San Marino ) is a San Marino politician . Podeschi was Capitano Reggente (head of state) in 1991 and was a minister several times.

Podeschi is a member of the PDCS , for which he sat from 1988 to 2012 in the Consiglio Grande e Generale , the San Marinese parliament. From 1988 to 1993 and again from 2001 to 2006 he was group chairman. From 1988 to 1993 he was a member of the San Marinese delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union . Podeschi was a member of the Parliament's Committee on Drug Abuse Investigation from 1988 to 1992, and the Health and Social Committee from 2001 to 2002. He was a member of the Electoral Reform Commission in 2003 and of the Judiciary Committee in 2005. Between 2002 and 2005 he was a member of the Committee on Budgets and between 2003 and 2004 and 2006 to 2009 a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .

Podeschi was Minister of Labor from 1993 to 1998, then Minister of Tourism, Trade and Sport from 1998 to 2001. After the return of the Christian Democrats to government, he was Minister for Health and Social Affairs from 2008 to 2012. He did not stand for the parliamentary elections in 2012.

In June 2014 he was arrested on charges of founding a criminal organization for the purpose of money laundering and 14 million euros of his property was confiscated.

Podeschi is married and has two daughters.
